Camping

Tonight, please help you child pack for the camping trip.  Fourth graders need to pack the items for the little bag only.  Fifth graders need to pack the little bag and an overnight bag, as well as their sleeping equipment (sleeping bag and pillow).  Please make sure everything is labeled.

Please see the packing list that went home to help your child adequately prepare for the trip.  It will be chilly at night, so please be sure your child has plenty of warm clothes to sleep in (long pants, warm socks, hats, gloves, coats, etc.)  Also, please review the items that are not allowed on the trip.  Thank you so much!  We are looking forward to a wonderful trip!!!

Alex's Lemonade Stand

Way to go students and families!  As a class we collected $31.43 for Alex's Lemonade Stand!  I am so proud of you for all of your hard work and dedication to helping children who are fighting cancer.  Together we can all make a difference.  Thank you!

Camping

Thank you so much to all of the volunteers who volunteered to help with the camping trip in some way.  Confirmation letters are coming home today.  Please look for them in your child's take home folder.

If your family has offered to let us use a tent, please work with your child this weekend so that he or she knows how to put up the tent.  Mrs. Wagner and I can help with the manual labor, but every tent is different, so we need the students to know how to assemble their own tent.

This weekend please work with your child to prepare his/her materials for the camping trip.  If your child is a 4th grader, they will only need to pack the little bag.  If your child is a fifth grader, he/she will need the little bag, overnight bag, as well as sleeping supplies.  Please refer to the packing list that went home in the camping packet for all supplies students should bring, as well as the items that are not allowed.  Thank you so much for all of your help to ensure a wonderful trip for our students.

4/5 Camping trip

If you have not returned the camping paperwork, please send that in to school with your child tomorrow.  There are many preparations we need to do before our big trip.

Also, thank you so much to the families who have offered to volunteer for our trip.  We really need more fifth grade parents who would be willing to help from 4:00-6:00 pm on Thursday night.  We need people who would be willing to help prepare and serve dinner to the students.  If you are able to help during this time, please let me know.

Also, if you are available to help Friday anytime between 7:00 am-1:00 pm, please let me know.  We could use some extra helping hands to take down camp, help with activities, and drive materials back to school.

September 11, 2001

Today, in honor of Patriot's Day, we read and analyzed a poem written by Paul Spreadbury.  While we as adults remember the events of September 11th so vividly, our students struggle to understand the significance of an event that happened before they were born.  This poem brought to light how important it is to remember and honor this day and all of our Patriots in American history.  Please click on the link below if you would like to read the poem.  May you all find peace during this day of remembrance.

Grammar- 4 Types of Sentences

This week we are learning about imperative and exclamatory sentences, which are the last two types of sentences.  Leave it to Grog and Sheep to review all 4 types of sentences for us.  Hopefully this is a helpful and fun resource as students work on their grammar packets this week.

LRC

Good morning!  This morning in LRC you will have the opportunity to begin your Native American research project.  Please work with a partner to explore the site below.  Read about several different regions of Native American tribes.  By the end of today choose 1 region that you would like to learn more about.  You and your partner may choose different regions.  This will allow you to begin the "Plan" stage of the Plan-Do-Review research process.
